The evangelical church in Craiova was built in 1870-1872 in neo-Renaissance style and is work of the architect Lindhorst. It is the oldest Protestant church in Oltenia. The evangelical community in Craiova was established in the mid XIX century, when Protestants of various ethnic groups: Germans (Saxons, Austrians, Prussians, and Germans from Russia) and Englishmen settled to live temporarily or permanently in the city. The church was declared a historical monument and museum.
