The house-museum of Ivan Vazov, Berkovitsa

The house-museum of Ivan Vazov is an architectural monument of culture with national significance. It was built in the beginning of 19 c. In 1940 was declared a historical monument, representing Bulgarian architectural and construction tradition. The beautiful carved ceilings are made by Bulgarian masters. In 1879-1880 there had lived and worked the national poet Ivan Vazov. Here, the great poet of Bulgaria was living for a year and half and was drawing plenty of subjects for his creations and started loving the nature of Berkovitza. His duties related to his everyday contacts with people, travelling to the neighboring villages and the frequent picnics are reason to write the poems „At Kom”, „Malini”, the peom „Gramada”, the story „Mitrofan and Dormidolski”.
