Dobri dol monastery “Holy Trinity”, Municipality of Lom

Monastery is located in a ravine, where once were built the village Dobri dol and the monastery, famous for today with the name Dobri dol "Holy Trinity", on 22 km from town of Lom and on 35 km from town of Vidin. On about 200-300 m to the south from the monastery is located the holy spring with healing water called to the saints Cosmas and Damian. For the construction of the monastery and its older history there are no any preserved information, but the legend refers its building to the time of the Old Bulgarian Kingdom. According to the existing among the local population legend, the holy spring and the construction of the monastery hold to the following: In the old days, a blind old man lost his cow in dingle. For many hours he was squeezing through the thickets, listening to hear where it was. At a certain time to his hearing reached a faint murmur. He came closer to the holy spring (spring), drinking from its water and washed his eyes. And for his joy, immediately began seeing. The old man thought that this would have to be known by more people and those of need to find a remedy. For that purpose a monastery had to be built - the spiritual shelter for people who take care of the holy spring, and shelter for those in need of its healing water. The population of the surrounding villages united and built a monastery and so this place became a center of human faith and hope.In accordance to research and historical sources, the monastery was founded before the conquest of Bulgaria by the Byzantine Empire (in the ninth century). After the conquest of the Vidin Kingdom by the Turks many temples and diocesan monasteries were destroyed, among which is Dobridol monastery. In complete desolation it remained until 1610, and then was revived by St. Pimen Zografski. In the late eighteenth century it was plundered and burnt by Turkish brigands, and in 1850 - again renewed by the monk Benedict. After Chiprovtsi uprising in 1688, the monastery was again destroyed. Final destruction of the monastery took place in 1828 during the Russo-Turkish War. After the Liberation of Bulgaria, this monastery was decorated with new buildings and still continues to flourish today.

Currently Dobri dol monastery is operational and has an adequate basis to ensure smooth conduct of seminars and training courses. The monastery is inhabited by three monks and four novices, among which the recently appointed Hieromonk Haralambos.

The church was renovated in the nineteenth century and represents single-nave, cruciform, domed apse building, built on octahedral drum. There are frescoes in it, but above the front door has stone figures and donor inscription.
