The Monastery in Maglavit, Dolj district

Location: from DN56A turn right towards the monastery - 1 km.

The Maglavit monastery is associated with Petracce Lupu. The construction of the monastery began in 1935, with donations from the faithful people of Maglavit, in place and in memory of the miracle of Petracce Lupu, but remained not finished. During the communist regime, the church was destroyed and restored later in 1990 as Izvorul Tamadurii. At this time began the construction of monastic cells. Today the monastery is completed and is shelter for nuns. In the monastery complec is located also the place of death of Petracce Lupu, the "magic" shepherd whose legend is known throughout the world.
