Traditional celebrations and festivals in Montana
International folklore festival – Montana, organized by Montana Municipality - Bulgaria. It is dedicated to the celebration of the town - the Holy Spirit, which is always on the Monday after Pentecost i.e. 51 days after Easter. The aim of the festival is to popularize folk heritage as a unique form of national identity, mutual knowledge of cultures and traditions, to increase the tolerance and to create the conditions and opportunities for intensive cultural exchange between the countries, the festival is not a competition. Dancing ensembles of processed folklore from 5 different countries are invited to participate without restrictions of age. According to their preference groups can perform their program with live music or with records on CD. Using electronic music is permissible. The concerts from the festival programme are held outdoors on the bandstand of the central square of Montana. Accompanying concerts are organized in adjacent settlements also.
Feasts Brass orchestra “Diko Iliev” – Montana with the participation of the representative Guard brass orchestra within the National Guard unit– town Sofia – May 11th. International holidays of the brass orchestras “Diko Iliev” are traditional cultural event of Montana Municipality. In the holidays may be involved professional and amateur brass bands without age restrictions, and majorette bands. Bands shall be allocated for participation in festivals by days, according to genre diversity of the program at the discretion of the organizer. Participants shall include in the program at least one piece of Diko Iliev and at least one piece of contemporary Bulgarian composer.

• Competition for the creation of new works for brass band;
• International competition for children drawing „Drum is beating, chain dance is winding”.
