Traditional celebrations and festivals in Berkovitsa

Feast of the town – September 8th in the Day of nativity of Mary

Patent leather shoes - festival of the children song and arts. It is carried out annually in town of Berkovitza in the beginning of June. „Patent leather shoes” started in 1992 as a festival of the song. In 1994 the festival receives the statute of national event and is registered in the National cultural calendar.

BERKSTOCK is a rock festival, organized along the lines of the legendary Woodstock. Headlining the festival from 2005 is the legendary Scottish punk group Exploited. Berkstock for the first time was carried out in 1998 with the participation of BTR, Vladimir Totev, Kamen Katsata, Amuzia and others. During the years of Berkstock had been playing more than 150 groups, among which Babyface Clan, Korozy, Poduene blues band, D2, Mastilo, Carizma, Zornik. On the scene of Berkstock had sung Joe Lin Turner and Alkatraz with Greham Bonet. The festival was canceled during the period 2006–2011. At the end of 2011 the Municipal council unanimously voted the wreck festival to be restored in 2012. It was decided to be held on June 29th, 30th and July 1st. The entrance for the Festival remains free

Folklore festival "Ashiklar is singing and dancing". It is held annually in town of Berkovitza in early July. Folk Festival is one of the oldest in Bulgaria. Its inception was in August 1936 as a singing competition of the bands from Berkovska region

The Festival of Berkovitza Balkan — in late summer, is held in „Коm” hut. It is held annually in town of Berkovitsa, in the first Saturday of August in the area called Gornata koria close to the Kom hut. In the evenings for the mountain lovers is playing the brass band of Barzia village and a festive fire is ignited. The transportation is also provided.

The festival of "the wild raspberries" - held in „Коm” hut. The hut disposes of 106 beds, 36 rooms (17 with own bathroom and 19 with one at the floor), inn, tourist kitchen, internet local heating. During the summer season there are excellent conditions for hiking – eco paths among the virgin nature. There is a ski slope close to the hut with total length of 1 km, ski lift, and ski storage and ski instructors. On 2 hours walking from the hut is Kom peak (№34 out of the 100th National tourist sites), on 20 min from Vazov kamak, on 3 hours from Petrohan passage. From here starts also the Euro route Е3 – Kom - Emine. During all seasons the nature is uniquely beautiful.
